Given our mission to serve the educational needs of students with learning differences, our philosophy of “Teaching Outside of the Box” is a basic premise which supports the
unique needs of our student body and each individual.
Crossroads School’s philosophy includes the following tenets:
Recognize that each child is unique and learns in different ways.
Encourage students to reach their highest level of achievement within the framework of their capabilities and talents.
Respect and recognize that self-esteem and confidence are essential to academic success.
To recognize that many children with learning differences also have associated social and organizational difficulties and then address them as needed.
Teach students to advocate for themselves and become “their own best expert”.
Strive to foster healthy interpersonal relationships.
Creative and flexible teaching strategies are required to accommodate different learning styles.
Understand that a combination of remedial and compensatory skills is required for successful learning.
